IMMEDIATE REPLY REQUIRED! Please contact the parents on your roster right away. Do not wait until after the coach’s orientation sessions. Getting practice day, time and location established is the highest priority even if your first practice is simply knocking a soccer ball around or having an informal inter-squad scrimmage. I highly recommend calling the parents on your team rater than sending out a team email. Some people do not check their email often enough for this to be effective for a first contact. If everyone on your team keeps up with their email regularly enough then feel free to make it your main form of communication later. Every season I get calls from angry parents saying they haven’t been contacted. An email from their coach sat in their inbox for a week or two unopened. This creates a tense and unpleasant beginning. Call your roster for first contact.

Practice Information PSA teams may practice on any public park or at any public school. We do ask that PSA teams yield the right of way to teams that are 12 year olds and upwards on grass areas that have a regulation sized game field. This is because we play with small-sided teams on smaller than regulation game fields so please try to practice in smaller spaces. If a person asks for information about you or anyone on your team and they do not have credentials as an employee of the City of Albuquerque then please do not give any information at all. If this person is unhappy with your refusal to divulge any information then please tell them to call PSA at 888-8880. We will address the matter immediately and directly. One of the other soccer leagues in town (AYSO) has parents that volunteer to be “park monitors” but this is ONLY for their league. These “park monitors” do not hold any authority whatsoever regardless of what they tell you or what they believe. If any PSA parent or PSA player has an issue with any person, persons, or team at a practice location then please contact us immediately so that a PSA administrator can quickly rectify the situation. If you and/or your team is having difficulty finding a suitable practice location then please call us or send us an e-mail and we will be glad to help.Team Formation Any parent or player may form his or her own team. The team you form will play in the age division of the oldest player on the team. Your roster must be confirmed by a PSA administrator. The ages of the players must be kept close. We will most likely not confirm a roster that has an age gap of more than a couple of years between players. Many teams are formed based on extended family members, church mates, and of course schools/private schools. Rosters limits:
Recruiting Anyone may recruit players for their respective teams. New players MUST complete the registration paperwork regardless of how they are brought into PSA. If your team has an extra uniform for the new recruit then it is very important that a parent from your team contact the league directly to inform us of this so that we do not make unnecessary uniform orders. Please keep in mind when recruiting new players that any child may play up a grade level or two but we will not permit an older child to play on a team in a younger grade division.Leftover Uniforms All teams that have uniforms that were not distributed to registered players MUST return them so that we do not waste money on unnecessary ordering. These uniforms were not given to PSA for free therefore we cannot simply give them away to kids (or adults) that are not registered to play. If you wish to have one for yourself or give one to a younger sibling of a registered player then we can do so at a minimal cost.Team Names Each team in PSA is allowed to pick any name they wish for their team. We must insist however that this name is chosen by the kiddos on the team rather than the adults. It is also very important to note that PSA will only track teams by the team number that was assigned to your team. The reason for this is that there are several teams named the “Geckos” but only one team with your number.
